Overview
The animal behind the card
Powerful hind legs launch it over drifts and rough ground, and a tendency to group in loose bands gives some safety in numbers. The hare feeds on woody plants, mosses and roots, often digging through snow with strong forepaws.
As seasons shift, its coat may turn grayer or browner to match exposed rocks and soil. Even while sitting perfectly still, the animal remains poised for instant flight.
